I ran across this somehow...I clicked on a link that had the word HIPSTER in it...and landed HERE...The website is pretty comical...I've noticed that once you give, a way of life, hobby, culture, etc, a title....it no longer becomes cool...people don't like to be labeled...even if they live that life, they start to deny it...example...call someone a hipster that totally lives the lifestyle of one, and they'll deny it till the death...a hipster is not a bad thing...

THEIR DEFINITION:

Definition of a Hipster
Hipster - One who possesses tastes, social attitudes, and opinions deemed cool by the cool. (Note: it is no longer recommended that one use the term "cool"; a Hipster would instead say "deck.") The Hipster walks among the masses in daily life but is not a part of them and shuns or reduces to kitsch anything held dear by the mainstream. A Hipster ideally possesses no more than 2% body fat.

Just a reminder, if you don't frequent M.I.A's blog, she is currently on tour w/ The Cool Kids...and you should definitely go check out a show if she comes to or even near your town. I haven't seen her live personally, but I have caught live shows of her via youtube, and I've also heard..."she's a great performer!" by friends who witnessed her live show for themselves (Lolla, HOB)...She's quirky, eccentric, a power ball of culture, you name it...she's a crowd pleaser.
