I Predict a Riot

A new video from an artist that is slept on way more than he should be.
Hezekiah feat. Keziah and Eshon Burgundy-"I Predict a Riot"
BTW, if you haven't heard his CD, "I Predict a Riot".....you should.
He has a joint on there with Freeway that is quite ill, I'm sure it would do well on the radio or with any ROC heads at that....
He also got Bilal on a smooth, mellowed out track....fans of Bilal, here you go.
The production of the entire album is well formatted and his songs are unique AND catchy....picture that!!

Cop It!

Kevin Michael: Wants to be Iconic

Kevin Michael's debut CD should currently be getting play in your CD player, car stereo, or IPOD. His first effort is truly amazing to me. The only other R&B album released this year that I could listen to in it's entirety, all day long is Chrisette Michele's debut. Both bring back that mood in music that has been missing for sometime now. Below, his video for "It Don't Make Any Difference to Me" feat. Wyclef Jean

"All I Gotta do is Add a Little Lemon...."

Thank you DC for emailing me this track....new Erykah Badu for that azz, "Honey". The title explains the song's content, which is Erykah describing someone who's like honey, real sweet, her sugar, her little muse, her favorite drink....you get it. It has that Erykah Badu vibe, quite chill and at the same time, funky.

--first single off her new album, which drops in February of 2008
Can you wait??
I know I've been inpatiently anticipating this

Erykah Badu-"Honey"

I saw the preview for this while at the theater waiting for, "American Gangster" to play. Boy was I glad that I got to the movies in time to see this. Check out the trailer below....and visit the official movie site for background on the movie and this "jumper" phenomenon.

"People Still Think I'm Wack..."

Angie Martinez interviews Lupe Fiasco...he talks about the fiasco that followed his hip-hop honors performance, and how he DID NOT grow up on Midnight Marauders, he even dropped some knowledge about M&Ms (that some would probably want to know)...

The Fiasco HATERS of the world must be completely crushed to:
1. Find out that the whole 'choking out a girl' incident was completely false...(ahem)ALLHIPHOP.com
2. hear that Lupe and Q-tip are 'supercool'
3. know that he is in fact a cool ass dude

Boyz II Men: Motown, A Journey Through Hitsville

"Boyz II Men: Motown, A Journey Through Hitsville is a collection of Motown hit records that basically influenced music today...."

The former quartet, now a trio, have come together to reconfigure classic motown songs with a Boyz II Men spin. They have aimed not to reinvent any of the classics but to add on to them in their own unique way. Shawn Stockman, Wanya Morris, and Nathan Morris continue to carry on the legacy that is Boyz II Men and they do it with such heart and compassion. Check out the video below to get a better feel for what the album has to offer.

From the Life && Syle Files: Dare your hair....Take Risks

I was going through V Magazine's website...for my daily update on style and all that comes with it. I found an interview that they did with Redken for their Urban Experiment line. Check out the interview HERE. I think that their approach to 21st century hair care is amazing and their efforts to go beyond conformity is clearly displayed through their newly developed interactive website. They made it known that their agenda is not to simply display new hair styles....
"The focus is not about hair...but about lifestyles"
The Urban Experiment products are quoted to,
"Represent a fashion-forward trend and are more about personal expression than conventional style"
....and I can dig that. I checked out the site for myself and was completely stunned by their unique approach. I pulled the site up on my computer, the intro happened to be a wonderful display of individuals with obviously different styles posed and ready to guide consumers around the site. The big bold words, "Dare to Experiment", seemingly tease you, and "spin the bottle" adds to that temptation. So, I spin the bottle and it lands on one of the posed individuals. I am then directed to a screen that offers up a description of the dare that I am given (along with, "the hair for this dare"). #9, which is titled, give a mix CD to a stranger (and an amusing illustration accompanies it). It goes on to give a description of this dare, basically create a mix of music give it to someone random and let it be. They are then supposed to be longing for you, this person that "they're having a tough time remembering". I think it's genius. BTW, in case you are wondering what the hairstyle is that's supposed to go with this dare, long layered locks with enamel gel (which is one of their products).

There is my detailed account of the site...I checked it out for you, now it's your turn.

What Big Arms you have John....

I was about to roll up out of here...and then I come across this....
New John legend video for, "Another Again" from his album, "Once Again". Doesn't he look cut the hell up???!?!!?!

"The spotlights here can burn holes through the stage...."

Lupe Fiasco's new video featuring Matthew Santos on the Chorus, for "Superstar". He introduces the characters in here, The Game, The Streets, and The Cool of course. Can you spot them out?? I'll follow up with a detailed breakdown later....but just watch the video, directed by Hype Williams by the way (He takes on a different approach for this video, not your usual Hype Williams feel).

video from ONSMASH

From the WTF Files: I have 150 Orgasms a Day..Sometimes 200

I stumbled upon the story of Sarah Carmen, a 24 year old beautician from London who suffers from an illness that causes her to have 150-200 orgasms a day. Now while this might sound like heaven for some, it is an everday struggle for Sarah who developed the illness after she was prescribed anti-depressants at the age of 19, (and this is why, I believe that anti-depressants are worthless, go toke on some green-you'll feel better w/o the side effects). It's called Permanent Sexual Arousal Syndrome (PSAS), which increases blood flow to the sex organs resulting in her outrageous number of orgasms a day. She is stimulated by almost any vibration, loud noises, trains, and she works in a salon filled with hairdryers and beauty & skincare gadgets that vibrate all day long. Read her interview with News of the World below:

She explained: "Anything can set me off. Even the hairdryers cause funny pulsations through my body.

"As a skin care specialist I have to use tools which vibrate a lot of the time for micro-dermabrasion and they sometimes set me off.

"I find if I'm nervous I'm less likely to get over-excited. So sometimes I try to psyche myself up and worry to control my orgasms.

"Some of my regular customers know my problem. But with new clients it's hard to explain.

"I have been in the middle of a treatment and it's happened and I've had to carry on.

"I was doing a bikini wax and you have to really concentrate and keep your hands very still, and mine go a bit wobbly when I orgasm.

"I had to pretend I had cramp in my foot and just stood there wriggling around on the spot and stifling my moans until it was over."

Sarah's friends think she is the luckiest girl ever, although her family think her behaviour is sometimes slightly odd.

She said: "The best way to describe how I am when I am with my family and I have one of my 'moments' is that I behave like Sheila from Shameless.

"I just get a bid giddy and yelp out and try to control myself. I've never sat down and explained it to my mum and dad, it's just too weird.

"They just think I get a bit hyperactive round them.

"My friends think it's great. I have more orgasms in one day than most of them will probably have in a year.

"They say to me that they feel lucky if their boyfriend makes them have one orgasm-some days I have one every ten minutes."

It has proved to be a problem for Sarah in some relationships.

She said: "I dated one guy who was very selfish and he was that way in the bedroom too. He'd just lie back and expect me to please him.

"He just figured that because I could climax without him even having to touch me, he didn't need to do anything to please me.

"I just thought that was rude and inconsiderate. It didn't last very long with him."

She has also had embarrassing moments in public. Going to noisy bars and clubs is out of the question as the vibrations send her wild.

"We have to find nice quiet bars," she explained. "I have more orgasms if I have a drink as it relaxes me so I tend to drink very little now.

"It can be a bit embarrassing if I'm tipsy and guys who don't know me talk to me, because I find it harder to hide.

"The most embarrassing thing that has happened was when I answered a market research questionnaire and had an orgasm in front of the researcher.

"She knew what was happening and looked at me like I was a weirdo. I tried to explain that I couldn't help it, but I was blushing so much I had to walk away."

Sarah has even been to a Sex Addicts' Anonymous meeting in despair over her sex drive.

She said: "At first when the problem started I just wanted to have sex all the time, I thought I was a sex addict.

"But when I looked around the room and heard the stories other people told, about how desperate they were for sex, I realised I wasn't like them.

"With me, it was a means of releasing my orgasm, but now I know I don't have to have sex to do that."

Sarah has looked into the condition and believes it may have been triggered by her taking anti-depressants.

She said: "I've found studies that say that taking anti-depressants and then stopping has an effect on the sexual organs. That is the only thing that explains what happens to me.

"But I've heard of other girls who have the same problem and it just appears out of the blue. I've spoken to my doctor about it but she wasn't a great deal of help but that's mainly because there's very little known about it and no one yet knows how to cure it."

Thanks to her understanding friends and colleagues, Sarah feels like she can now live with PSAS.

She said: "I'm lucky because people around me are very kind and appreciate that sometimes this is a problem for me and it can be embarrassing.

"I need to concentrate on something sad or worrying when I talk to people and I don't want to get carried away."

During our 40-minute interview, Sarah told us she had five orgasms.

Years of dealing with the problem means that sometimes she can hide it quite well.

Her voice goes high pitched and she will lose her train of thought and have to stop talking completely for a few seconds. She says disguises this by coughing when she is in awkward situations.

"But it's also nice to have so much excitement every day! It's strange because it came from nowhere and I guess it could go away just as quickly, so I'm making the most of it while it lasts!"

Mama Clothing

Mama Clothing....a streetwear clothing line for women, founded by a woman (Gabriella A Davi-Khorasanee), who happens to collect LA Gears and loves military themed clothing,(think the Peace and War, hippie era of the world, mixed with streetwear graphics). Current TV aired a segment on the designer and her label, Mama Clothing. I found this woman interesting because she had a successful carrer in law and quit that work full time on her label and it's designs. Check out her site, watch the segment, and enjoy.

Surviving the Times

Another video to cure the Monday blues....Nas, "Surviving the Times". Off of his highly controversial album, "Nigger"....&& on that note, one of the first albums in history to use that word in it's album title:

"Superstar" is Here

According to the Child Rebel Soldier blog, "Superstar" will be premiering today via MTV2 and on MTV.com and MTVU.com all day. His video will be an unleashed video meaning it will play on MTV2 every hour on the hour. TRL will be premiering it tomorrow, Tuesday @ 3:30pm. So, that means voting for it to be on the countdown is necessary. You can also pre-order "The Cool" on Myspace.

INTERESTING HINTS:
--THERE MAY BE 18 TRACKS ON THE ALBUM
--SNOOP DOGG MIGHT BE MAKING A GUEST APPEARANCE

In about 6 weeks, the wait will be over. I'll have the album in my hands && there will either be a bit of disappointment due to the fact that I've hyped up the album so much that it wasn't able to meet my silly standards....or I won't be able to stop listening to "The Cool", which is the same effect that F&L had on me. I'm almost 100% sure that this album will be banged my car stereo with much anticipation to play it each time I hop into the bishi. Avid supporter, yes I am. Quality music, yes, it's coming.

Aqua Teen Hunger Force Strikes Again

I saw this sweater again && I STILL have no idea as to who the designer/maker of this sweater is, so any leads would be awesome (mco0686@yahoo.com). I know it's linked to Aqua Teen Hunger Force, but who designs it? I'd like to learn a little bit more about the company if anything. It keeps popping up in pictures everywhere. Anyhoo, it looks great on her. By the way, this girl is a model/contestant in
Vmagazine's Supreme Management Model Search 2007. If you like what she's about vote for her.

Creative Technique Thursdays: Karl Lagerfeld

This week in art...I decided to sort of highlight the career of Karl Lagerfeld, a man that has become one of the most celebrated designers that this century has seen. I was going to do a full out post about this mysterious yet powerful force that is Lagerfeld but then that would just defeat the purpose of the documentary. They call this a, "groundbreaking feature documentary...an intimate and human portrait of one of the most enigmatic and iconic figures in the international fashion industry"

"I don't want to be real in other people's lives...I want to be an apparition."

Well here is another film, produced by Ultimate Hustler himself, Dame Dash (Directed by Mark Levine). It made it's debut in select theaters on October 26. It's titled, "Mr. Untouchable", it's the story of Nicky Barnes, the ruthless 1970's New York drug kingpin, turned stool pigeon. For more information visit the official movie website.Watch the Trailer here:

Some call him a godfather, others, a snitch...What do you think??

INTERESTING FACT:

Nicky Barnes is portrayed in "American Gangster" by Cuba Gooding Jr.

20 Tracks!!!

If you can read the above banner on my site, then you would know that, "The Cool is Coming". You should also know that this album might make history in my book. This is straight from the Child Rebel Soldier blog, news about "The Cool":

Word on the street is…Lupe played his entire new album a whopping 20 tracks to the staff at Atlantic Records today, and the label peeps lost their minds over the music they heard! The entire building is so gassed up, they are going to be working extra hard on this one! Expect early reviews poppin’ up soon….quiet as kept i heard Bishop G spits a mean 16…

Anyways, the big Halloween show tomorrow in Chicago, mang! It’s sold out, so luck you, if you got your tickets early! There is going to be so many surprises there! It’s going down!!!! Also, “Superstar” video is done, Hype did an incredible job…and it will be premiereing on November 5th - you will get to meet The Game, The Streets and The Cool that day as well! ha ha ha ha haaaa!

So what else? Well Lu’s gonna continue to hit the road, hitting up all the location radio stations in your city/town/hood you know! Spins are increasing every week, and the onslaught of press is COMING soon! Still 12/18…Still L-U-P-E…

I can respect anyone who takes the time to put together 20 tracks for their fans The TWO push backs just might REALLY pay off, who are we kidding, I'm 100% percent sure it will pay off. I have faith in, "The Cool". If it doesn't get the album sales, I know his fans will still be pleased with the outcome. His thought process and organization for this album is insane. Dec. 18th, where you at???

Down in the Durty

I'll be down in the durty tonight. Well I'll be in the country anyway, on a farm riding on hay wagons and all that good stuff. Every Halloween season Ashland Berry Farms (Central Virginia area) offers what they like to call 'Haunted Evenings' which includes a haunted hayride feature, and two haunted houses. It's an awesome set up they have, it's attracted thousands over the years. Last year I think we stood in line for a good hour and a half before we got to run for our lives in the haunted woods that come equipped with their own Michael Myers, trap doors, and random men chasing you with chain saws. This year, they've added clowns and an ice cream truck, and we all know how horrific clowns are (flashbacks to that circus: Age 8). If you happen to be in the area, check it out. It's definitely not for the faint of heart.

    Daft Punk has Been Here

It amazes me that some people still have no clue as to who Daft Punk is. I was sure that after Kanye's success with sampling, "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger", Daft Punk would've become a household name. Unfortunately, this is not the case, I ran into someone who thought, "Stronger" was a song that, "Kanye actually didn't use any samples on". So for those who are still unfamiliar, please watch this live performance of, "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger". Shot live from their concert in Brooklyn by "several hundred MiniDV owner/operators". Enjoy.

BTW: Daft Punk Alive 2007 is due out 11/20/2007 on Virgin

AND KANYE'S INSPIRATION FOR THE "STRONGER" VIDEO

    Attract em With This: "Deseo"

Perfume is method of attraction made much easier in my book...stimulating someone's senses just might be the first step of attraction for you...A good fragrance has the power to make you feel more confident, sexier (w/o having to put on scandalous outfits) , and more desirable...just the other day I was told that I smell really good by numerous people in different locations...(thanks to Paris Hilton's fragrance, 'Heiress'...yea I made her even more wealthy but damnit her perfumes are one of the best)...I am also a huge fan of J.Lo's perfumes from 'Glow' to 'Miami Glow'...and she's back again with "Deseo" (which translates to "Desire" in English). "Deseo" will be released in February 2008 and is the first product among her beauty ventures to reference her latino heritage...I personally cannot wait to experience because she never fails to disappoint me in the perfume department.

....beat the Monday blues with a great video...this one by your main man Common..."I Want You" has been getting a lot of buzz lately...this song happens to be one of my personal favorites from his album, "Finding Forever"...&& the video exceeded my expectations for it by far...the theme, the mood, the players (Alicia Keys, Kerry Washington, Kanye West, Serena Williams), are just fantastic...an epic for sure

Jet Set in the Spirit of Halloween

During the Halloween season, you'll find your usual costume party, or that haunted house that the same farm sets up every year....why not do something different....something that will send real chills up your spine....engage in a Halloween activity that actually has history...Jet Set to creepy destinations...this post was inspired by a news feature I saw over at Yahoo...bring a friend or a lover...if you tend to get spooked out easily....than I would suggest that ol' Haunted House thing....

    Manchac Swamp, Louisiana
Torchlit nighttime boat tours are offered by the Old River Plantation Adventure through the Manchac Swamp a.k.a the "Haunted Swamp". This site is located near New Orleans which means you can stop through this swamp and then go hit up Bourbon St. for good food and fun afterward. Ancient cypress trees and Spanish moss are scattered throughout to make the swamp a bit more eerie for it's visitors. It is said that the swamp was cursed by an imprisoned voodoo queen around the turn of the last century, resulting in the disappearance of three hamlets in a hurricane in 1915. And people are probably really frightened by the swamp being that it has been left alone by commercial development for more than 100 years. You be the judge. Louisiana always seemed like a spooky place to live what with all the voodoo and black magic that is said to still be practiced here.

  • AND ANOTHER

    Mütter Museum, Philadelphia
"From the sliced human head floating in a glass case, à la Damien Hirst, to the gruesome collection of preserved presidential tumors and a plaster cast of Siamese twins Chang and Eng (as well as their actual conjoined livers), Philadelphia's Mütter museum is a must-see, especially for those who found the movie Dead Ringers oddly compelling. Part of the College of Physicians of Philadelphia, the oldest medical school complex in North America, it combines exhibits of pathological objects, surgical tools, and anatomical curiosities. Other wonders on display include the tallest skeleton in North America and a collection of 2,000 objects removed from people's throats, each with its own case history. There is an almost gleeful disconnection between the museum's mission—"to advance the cause of health, and uphold the ideals and heritage of medicine"—and the often shocking displays. High on the ugh-list are the painted papier-mâché models of the effects of gangrene and the wax faces with various eye injuries; the air outside is bound to seem fresh afterward, no matter what the weather."

    Fresh Fridays: Hellz-Bellz

Awhile back I posted a pic and link to the website that is Hellz-Bellz. The pic was a shot of a dope pair of jeans, that I have yet to get my hands on by the way. I was surfing their site again today for "my closet" prospects and just had to put you on to their style. It's different and made for those who are into streetwear for women. May I also include that Hellz-Bellz was founded by a woman (Lanie Alabanza). I had to throw that out there because we all know that streetwear fashion is for the most part, catered to the male species' of the world. This line is daring, defintely dope, and most importantly, made by a woman for women (**DISCLAIMER: I do not hate men**). Get Fresh.

    Stay on your Best Behavior

I recently found myself gaining interest in a magazine that hasn't been around for too long. I'd say almost two years. They very blatantly stray from everything that is mainstream. They cater to the eccentric, non-conformists of the world. You won't find Kate Moss in this mag. Instead, you'll find someone like, let's say, M.I.A. She is featured on the cover of their most recent issue. Check it out, hop on before everyone else. This magazine is exactly what I need at the end of such a normal day.

If You Are Chilly...Here Take My Sweater

I'm sure you've all seen Old Navy's commercial advertising their line of sweaters...and I'm sure when you heard that wonderful tune that played the background, you asked yourself, "Who sings that? That sounds nice." For those that have no clue as to what I'm talking about, here is the commercial

The song is called, "The Way I Am" by Ingrid Michaelson. She's an independent artist that gained a large amount of recognition through another one of Old Navy's advertising campaigns. I think they chose a great song for this commercial, it's a composition of simple lyrics, a smooth melody, and a beat backed by bongos that make the flow of the song a bit more catchy.

Me && You & Sean John Too

A little new music from Cassie...yes she's still on Bad Boy...and she's still part of Sean John's advertising campaign for his women's line...she's doing her thing. I've heard a lot of leaks from Cassie...most of them, unreleased songs that maybe didn't quite make the cut for her debut album...but this is a new one, not sure what's to become of it but I actually really like it...it's catchy
  • Cassie-"Turn the Lights Off"

  • and I must say, I do love the look of the Sean John women's ad campaigns...

    Star Trak: Teyana Taylor

I remember reading via Pharell's blog...the status of Teyana Taylor's album. He confirmed that it was done and ready to drop. I'm just wondering where a single is right about now. I'm interested in hearing just what their creative minds came up with. The pics above are from a shoot Teyana did with Trace Magazine in which she covered their September issue.

    Superwoman

For me, Friday's are supposed to be a joyous day. Unfortunately today, I'm a little down. At first, I was feeling extremely sad. Others call it emo....my mood song was this:
  • Wu Tang Clan-"The Heart Gently Weeps" feat. Erykah Badu

  • && then I listened to a great new Alicia Keys track called, "Superwoman". Talk about very uplifting. I love this girl for this song, mainly because it made me realize that I need to be a little more stronger than I was being. At the end of the day, she's doing her job as a musician/role model.

    "Even when I'm a mess/I still put on a vest/with an "S" on my chest, oh yes/I'm a Superwoman"
  • Alicia Keys-"Superwoman" (LIVE)

    We Roll on Paper Planes

Hello all, I have returned after months of surfing the net trying to find uniquely awesome material that may quite possibly garner more readers....
I first took a trip back into time to reflect on music that paved the way for artists today.....
....this reflection on dope music made me remember my very extensive music collection with sounds from an array of listeners, one of them being, Pete Rock......and upon further research I found this new track from the man himself, featuring Jim Jones and Max B.....

    "We Roll"
I personally, have to get use to Jimmy's voice on this track. It usually rubs me the wrong way, but his flow here is cool.

BUT THIS RIGHT HERE.....I CANNOT STOP LISTENING TO

"Bona fide hustla, makin' my name"

    Beautiful Liar Vid Confirmed

So I was watching EXTRA on t.v today and saw an interview that Beyonce was giving to a reporter. She talked about the Oscars, House of Dereon and the video that she filmed with Shakira for, "Beautiful Liar" which was a track produced by Shakira. I'm not exactly sure if Bey recorded a version with Shakira but the track below offers up a Spanish speaking Bey getting red hot over a "Latinized" beat. It catchy, I like it. It's fun to try to sing along with too......check it check it check it out.

  • Beautiful Liar

  • .......Bey is really trying to make that name of hers rock solid......
